Asus, one of the leading giants for computer products entered the smartphone industry a bit late, but picked up the pace smoothly and has been launching some of the most prominent handsets in the smartphone industry. Now, Asus has brought up Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro smartphone boasting about a powerful front camera to capture better images. Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro is a powerfully built device that is powered with bigger RAM and a better processor to handle multi tasking perfectly. Let’s dig into this review and learn about this stunning device.

Design and Build

Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro is a powerful device encased in a metal unibody. The rear surface of the phone has given it a matte finish. The chamfering is seen on the front and the back adding a glossy chrome layer to its design. You can see two horizontal antenna lines on the rear side at top and bottom. The rear camera occupies half of the rear side while the Asus branding is present on the centre.

The smartphone is quite slim having 7mm thickness and weighs just 145grams. The rounded edges let you hold the device comfortably otherwise it may slip from your hands. The volume rocker and power button sits on the right edge. You just have the microphone on the top edge an on the top you have proximity sensors, earpiece speaker, and ambient light sensor.

On the right of the earpiece speaker lie two front cameras on its left, you have softlight flash unit. On the left edge you can find the hybrid dual-nano SIM tray while on the bottom edge is the microphone, microUSB port, 3.5mm audio jack, and speaker section. It even has a rounded rectangular fingerprint sensor having haptic feedback.

Display

It comes with a 5.5inch FHD AMOLED display screen which is protected by 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection ensuring the smudge proof display. The brightness level is optimal while the text and app icons are really sharp. The contrast is just awesome, all thanks to the AMOLED panel.  The display is tad reflective ensuring that there is no reflective surface while watching the videos on device.

Camera

Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro comes with a 16MP rear camera with Sony sensor and phase-detect autofocus (PDAF). It even comes up with EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) technology to support 4K UHD video recording. The rear camera has gone through a few design changes like Pro mode, beauty mode, portrait mode, slow motion mode, GIF animation mode, and the time-lapse mode.

The major highlight of this smartphone is the front facing camera. Rather we can say the dual front facing camera. One camera comes with ½.55inch 12MP Sony IMX362 sensor having f/1.8 aperture whereas the other one is the 5MP Omnivision sensor having 120-degree field view. Asus claims that the front facing 12MP camera makes use of DuoPixel technology for extrapolating the 12MP images to 24MP size.

Software and UI

Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro comes installed with Android Nougat 7.1.1. ASUS has totally revamped it UI to ZenUI 4.0. The new UI is quite cleaner than the previous version while there has been a significant downfall in the number of pre-installed applications from 35 to 13. It even supports the Twin apps features. Its quick settings menu now features the Power Boost, Audio Wizard, a multi-Window feature, and a lot more.

Hardware

Zenfone 4 is powered with Octa-core Cortex A53 Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 SoC processor clocked at 2 GHz. The 4GB bigger RAM is good enough to handle multi-tasking without any hassle. To improve the graphical stability it comes with Adreno 506 GPU.

Performance

No complicated issues were found on Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro and the phone worked fabulously well with Snapdragon 625 Chipset and 4GB RAM. The call quality was also fabulous and the ear piece speaker sound was loud enough. The new Audio Wizard added value to the music and the earphones you get with the handset also sounded great.

The 4GB RAM made the gaming experience pleasant and the phone performed fantastically well when games like Asphalt 8 were played on the device. The heating was not at all an issue as the temperature never raised above 31 degree Celsius. Overall, the performance was great.

Storage & Connectivity

Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro comes with 64GB internal storage. The specifications include single band Wi-Fi b/g/n, GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.2, USB-OTG, NFC, 5GHZ WI-FI band, and 4G VoLTE.

Battery Life & Price

One of the downside is that it comes with just 3000mAh battery. Though this battery life is enough for the normal usage, but the users who love to use the phone to extreme level need more battery. The device is priced at Rs. 23,999 only.
